Dead Santa

Something to remember:

"Santa Claus" is actually a mispronunciation of the Dutch word "Sinterklaas" by the English settlers of New York (later renamed New York).

This is a good link as well.

Laurel Canyon Trail

Because the weather was good (no rain & not much clouds) this morning (8am) I was able to convince myself to go for a walk. I was at Wildcat peak at about 9.40 am. We (my wife) planned to go for shoppnig in the afternoon, so I wasn't able to do a long loop. I decided to go towards the Nimitz way and go down via the Laurel Canyon Trail. At a certain moment, the trail goes off down a steep hill with some trees and a number of switchbacks and ends up at a small stream, seen here. Posted by Picasa

Vegetable rice

Shakthi is nowadays eating by herself without making an enormous mess.
It is not allways easy to convince her that she should stay at the table though. She has a preference for food items that have nice geometric shapes and therefor likes to eat peas (can i want the ball please?)

Club Barbie

Wonder what this is about.....

(FYI we actually did not visit this, it was on the way to our restaurant where we had amazingly (and over priced) sushi somewhere in Kawasaki).

Japan

Above some pictures of my trip to japan. Tokyo is an amazing city!

A walk in Tilden park, II

A view of San Pablo reservoir from Wild cat peak.

From Wild cat peak, a short hike takes you to the Nimitz way which ends at 'inspiration point'.

Power cables.

After Inspiration point, I took the meadows canyon trail. A 1.43 mile hike back to the nature area.

In total, the hike was about 5 miles/8 km (Peak trail, Nimitz way Meadows Canyon trail) and had a height difference of about 700 feet (and 700 down of course). It took me about 2 hours, with some rest at the Wild cat peak. Not to bad for an overweight ex-smoker I would say ... Posted by Picasa

A walk in Tilden park,I

I had a walk today in Tilden Park. The weather was nice as well as the scenery. Here some pictures:

This picture is taken at the start of the Sylvan/Peak trail, just after Jewel lake.
Not sure if these are juniper berries. I doubt it.

Not sure what this is either. Looks like a big dried up 'distel'

On the top of wild cat peak, this nice bird was about his business. Posted by Picasa
